On Thursday 4th October, all four of our Trust Primary Schools celebrated National Poetry Day with their pupils in exciting and creative ways . The theme for the day was Autumn and pupils enjoyed various activities throughout the day, all centered around poetry.
The children at Erdington Hall enjoyed throwing leaves in the air and listened intently to Principal Mr Simcox recite a range of poems. They then took part in an activity where they had to guess what was hiding in an Autumn themed box.
Leaves and glitter filled the corridors at Pegasus Primary school and these led the pupils towards some fantastic poetry performances, an autumnal walk. The pupil then had the opportunity to have a go at leaf printing.
Pupils at The Oaklands Primary followed ‘Autumn leaf roads’ to their classrooms throughout the day where they took part in poetry performances for their fellow pupils.
Staff at Yarnfield Primary peformed a poetry ‘flash mob’ for the pupils during their lunchtime and performed Spike Milligan’s ‘On the Ning Nang Nong’. The pupils were taken completely by surprise and gave their teachers a standing ovation at the end.
