Update from CEO – Monday 4th January – 9pm

Monday 4th January – 9pm

Dear Parents and Carers,

You will have seen, I am sure, the message this evening from the Prime Minister. He has announced a full nationwide lockdown, and as part of this that all schools and colleges will be closed from tomorrow with the exception of Key Worker children and those pupils that have been identified as requiring additional support. Currently it appears that schools and colleges will be closed until February half term.

I am extremely sorry that this information is coming to you so late in the day.

Your child will be provided with high quality remote learning from Wednesday morning, either online or paper-based. Academy Principals will be writing to parents with information on this shortly. As before, we really appreciate your help in supporting your child to do as much work as they can at home to ensure that they continue with their learning.

Regarding free school meal provision, Academy Principals will be writing to families who are eligible for this with further information as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister also announced that public examinations for Year 11 and Year 13 will not take place as planned this summer, and that another means of assessment will be used instead. Students in these year groups should try not to worry too much about this – everyone in the country is in the same situation here, and our teachers will do their utmost to make sure that learning for Year 11 and 13 prepares them extremely well for their next step.

Teachers and staff will all continue to work extremely hard during this time, preparing and responding to pupils’ work, and contacting you and your child regularly to make sure that we keep in close touch with you. If you have any queries or concerns during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will do our very best to help.

Please look after yourselves and stay safe.

All best wishes,

Catherine Anwar
