Wendy Cotterill is the Principal at Erdington Hall Primary School and took up post in January 2019. She has taught across Birmingham in a variety of settings for over twenty five years. She began her journey to headship whilst leading on school improvement as the Assistant Principal at Oasis Academy Short Heath. It was there that she took on the role of Regional School Improvement Partner for Upper Key Stage two. She gained further experience as a Deputy in the inner city, gaining valuable knowledge of how to tackle the barriers to learning facing EAL, newly arrived and disadvantaged learners. Wendy has developed a wide skill set whilst teaching across all Primary Key Stages, including Early Years, and she has used these skills to build effective teams within her setting. As a leader, Wendy emphasises the importance of working in close partnership with parents and the local community and she is an advocate of investing in teacher training and continued, professional development for all staff within the school.
Principal, Pegasus Primary School
Vanessa Wardle is the Principal at Pegasus Primary School and took up post in April 2019. She has taught in primary schools across the country including Birmingham, Warwickshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Cheshire. She has worked in a variety of settings for twenty five years with children from early years to Year 6. Her leadership career began when she was appointed as Assistant Headteacher for the largest primary school in Wokingham, Berkshire and her experiences as a Deputy Headteacher in Birmingham City enabled her to gain valuable experience in working with diverse communities and with children for whom English is not their first language. Developing the Pegasus school community so that everyone feels welcome and valued is something Vanessa is passionate about and she believes that, when everyone works together, great things can be achieved. Vanessa’s educational philosophy is firmly rooted in the knowledge that all children can achieve their potential when the conditions are right for learning – our children deserve the best.
Principal, The Oaklands Primary School
Mark Court has been in post as Principal at The Oaklands Primary School since January 2018. He previously worked at Montgomery Primary Academy for 5 years as an Assistant Headteacher and then the Deputy Headteacher. Mark is an SLE for EYFS and has supported Senior Leaders across the country in developing their EYFS. As a Talk for Writing trainer, he was worked closely with Pie Corbett.
Mark has experienced teaching in London and Sydney, Australia. After working in some of the most deprived areas in the UK, yet achieving academic results on par with national figures, Mark is a firm believer that all children have the ability to achieve given the opportunity.
Principal, Yarnfield Primary School
Davinder has been Principal of Yarnfield Primary School since November 2018. Davinder has nearly 15 years of senior leadership experience, during which time has led a number of schools successfully, both as a Headteacher and Executive Headteacher. In her most recent headship, she led the school from being identified as one of the bottom 200 primary schools in the country to Outstanding. As a mother and a wife, Davinder values time spent with family and friends.
Principal, Ninestiles, An Academy
Alex is the Principal at Ninestiles, An Academy having taken up post in April 2019. He has over 15 years’ experience within the Summit Learning Trust secondary schools and has undertaken significant school improvement work across Birmingham, Gloucester and in East Sussex. In his role as a Specialist Leader in Education Alex was also part of the DfE delegation to China advising on developments in maths education. Alex believes every young person has the right to an excellent education and enjoys working with disadvantaged communities to develop social mobility. When not at school Alex enjoys golf and cycling often undertaking challenges to raise money for charitable causes.
Principal, Lyndon School
Abid is the Principal at Lyndon School. He has worked in education for nearly 18 years and for the main served in senior leadership roles including Advanced Skills Teacher, Assistant, Deputy and Associate Headteacher. His primary area of expertise is teaching school improvement and he has successfully contributed to raising standards in education locally in Solihull schools. Abid has worked with the National College to pilot revisions to the National Professional Qualification for Headship. (NPQH)
Principal, Cockshut Hill School
Jason is the newly appointed Principal at Cockshut Hill. He has taught in London, New York and at Ninestiles. Originally a PE teacher, Jason has held a variety of middle and senior leadership roles including Faculty Leader, AP for Behaviour and VP for Provision. Jason has two children Daniel & Luke and spends most of his weekend taking them to various sporting events!
Dr Martin Sullivan
Principal, The Sixth Form College, Solihull
Martin is the Principal of The Sixth Form College, Solihull. He became a research chemist after graduating from university and gained a PhD. It was during this time he found his true passion for education. He is dedicated to ensuring that all students achieve their potential and committed to opening them up to all the opportunities that education can offer. Martin is particularly keen to improve the lives of students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. He has been teaching since 1994 and has been in a leadership position since 1996 and a senior leader for over 14 years.
